Grace, who’s always felt connected to art history, wanted to be covered in clay and gold leaf for their healing session. Grace’s father was a painter who painted incredibly large classical paintings. He would paint himself as larger than life, classical and holy figures. But he was also abusive toward Grace during Grace’s upbringing. Grace didn’t ever feel supported by their father, in their artistic endeavors or otherwise (Grace is also a photographer). This session was about taking back their power. Furthermore, Grace says that healing is always messy. We worked with some very messy materials, so that was fitting. I love how different every healing session is. This one was truly about processing some deep and difficult memories and emotions. Thank you for stepping in front of my camera, Grace.
